露絲（梅蘭妮·林斯基 Melanie Lynskey 飾）是在康復中心上班的護士，實際上，她自己也患有抑郁癥，正在服藥進行治療。在經(jīng)歷了非常倒霉的一天后，露絲疲憊的回到家中，震驚的發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的家遭到了歹徒的洗劫，值錢的筆記本電腦不翼而飛。巨大的壓力讓露絲感到，自己離崩潰不遠了。
